PUMICE STONE SCRUB
The raw material for Pumice Scrub originates in the heart of the volcano ‘Hekla’ in Iceland. Called ‘The Gateway to Hell’ by Cistercian monks in the 12th century, Hekla has been erupting since the beginning of recorded history with the latest incident in 2000. Mined in and around ‘Hekla’ PumiceScrub is available in Black and the rarer Red variety.
Pumice, called pumicite in its powdered or dust form, is a volcanic rock that consists of highly vesicular rough textured volcanic glass, which may or may not contain crystals. Pumice is created when super-heated, highly pressurised rock is violently ejected from a volcano. The unusual foamy configuration of pumice happens because of simultaneous rapid cooling and rapid depressurisation.
